Fall Colors In The Smokies

The Smoky Mountains and surrounding foothills experience an autumn leaf season of several weeks as fall colors travel down the mountain sides from high elevation to low. To predict in advance, the timing of fall color change depends upon so many variables that the exact dates of "peak" season are impossible.
Fall colors normally peak at the higher elevations the first 2 weeks of
October and the lower elevations from October 15th through November 7th.
